Conference Nαvigator 2005

The 5th "MARITIME CONFERENCE NAVIGATOR 2005”, expanding on “The impact of International Security Regulations (ISPS CODE) on Shipping Industry and Self Safety and Security Regulation is being reborn” under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Mercantile Marine and in co-operation with Professor Alexandros Goulielmos of the University of Piraeus, was completed with great success on Wednesday, 29th June, 2005 in ATHENS LEDRA MARRIOTT Hotel.

     

In the newly luxurious ballroom “MESOGEIOS” of the ATHENS LEDRA MARRIOTT Hotel, the Conference was conducted with the attendance of the General Secretary of the Hellenic Ministry of Mercantile Marine, Mr. Ioannis Tzoanos, the members of the Hellenic Parliament Mr Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, Mr Aris Spiliotopoulos and Mr Theodoros Kassimis, the Ambassador of India, His Excellency Dr. Bhaskar Balaskrishnan, the Commercial Officer of the Brazilian Embassy in Greece, Mrs Irene Vournas and the Commandant of the Hellenic Coast Guard Vice Admiral Theodoros Glezakos as well as officers in charge for the Sector of Safety of the Hellenic Coast Guard.

The honourable speakers extensively addressed issues that concerned the I.S.P.S. Code, under the co-ordination of the Professor of University of Piraeus Alexandros Goulielmos.

The massive attendance of Ship Owners and Decision-Makers of the most important Hellenic Shipping Companies, as well as highly interesting speeches from distinguished personalities, such as Mr. George Gratsos (President of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping and Member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Shipowners Association), Mr. Ioannis Pachoulis (President of the Union of the Greek Shipbrokers), Prof. Takis Varelas (Professor of Technical University of Crete and Project Director of DANAOS SHIPPING) constituted the critical factors of the tremendous success of this year's Conference. In addition, speeches on relevant issues were addressed by Mr. Panos Kirnidis, (Principal Surveyor of Europe and Mediterranean Region of INTERNATIONAL REGISTER OF SHIPPING), Mr Ioannis Gravanis of HELLENIC SHIPYARDS S.A.-SKARAMANGA YARD and Mr George Maniatakis of SBE COLLEGE.
