Μr. Elefterios Kehagioglou

President of the Hellenic Small Islands Network.

Mr. Lefteris Kehagioglou was born and raised in Hydra which he loves. He studied in Hydra and graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy. Then he was trained in advanced Fire security. He completed his shipping career as a Vessel’s Inspector performing annual safety inspections of Panamanian flag vessels. Then he worked for 15 years as a partner in European projects for Hydra’s development. Hydra was among the first municipalities nationwide that used innovative European projects.

He has also worked at the European parliament in the department of Regional Development focusing on the small islands. Mr. Kehagioglou is a co-founder of the Federation of UNESCO Clubs and the Hellenic Small Islands Network. As chairman of the Hellenic Small Islands Network he participates in monitoring Committees for European funds for island regions and in the National Council of Insular Affairs.

He is a member of the European Federation of small islands and an observer in the European Federation of Island Chambers. In 2009 he was considered one of the best personalities of the Greek islands and has been honored by several municipalities of our country for his contribution to the Greek Islands.
