Hugh J. Buchanan was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was educated in Argentina, Chile and the UK, having also lived in Brasil. in 1984 he graduated as a Deck Officer in the British Merchant Navy (Liverpool). He then sailed for British and Norwegian shipping companies. In 1987 he came ashore (Argentina) and is today Operations Director at Agencia Maritima Nabsa S.A., where he has been working since 1995.
