INTERVIEW OF DANAE BEZANTAKOU BY NAFS MAGAZINE – DECEMBER 2017/JANUARY 2018
Further to the cooperation of Danae Bezantakou with NAFS for 25 years, they proposed to have an interview with her, which was held during December 2017, in order to discuss about the history of NAVIGATOR FORUM through the years and to announce more information regarding 18TH NAVIGATOR FORUM 2018 – 1ST NAVIGATOR THE SHIPPING DECISION MAKERS WEEKEND 2018.
The success of NAVIGATOR FORUM – The Shipping Decision Makers Forum 2017, which was held for the 17th consecutive year and proved that it still remains one of the most popular events in the shipping industry worldwide with more than 650 participants at Hellas Liberty. She also announced that NAVIGATOR FORUM 2018 will be held at Chios Island, aiming to honor the contribution of Chios to the Greek Shipping Industry, as Chios is the mother island of many Shipowners. We consider that Greece is not only Athens and we wish that after 18th NAVIGATOR FORUM many other shipping events will take place in Chios and other places in Greece.
Among the issues discussed were: climate change, green technologies, the level of Greek Academic Education in Shipping and the Greek Maritime Industry with reference to the global financial crisis and the need of more Greeks to embark, nevertheless the things she would like to point out were:
The human factor will not be easily replaced and will play a key role in Shipping Industry at least for the next 50 years. However, the Shipping Industry should be prepared for the new era of technology and innovation in Shipping, as the unmanned ship.
She also commented a phrase of Capt. Dimitris regarding environmental protection and she emphasized that we are not the Owners of this planet and have to take action immediately in order to prevent further damages, which will have negative impact on the next generations.
