Navigator Forum | Closed Event #MasterTheChange

“Master the Change” was the third and last roundtable event of Navigator Forum, organized at the Piraeus Marine Club on the 3rd of October, 2023, which brought together three Greek Think Tanks to tackle the challenges facing the global and local shipping environment. The event featured insights from prominent think tanks diaNEOsis, ELIAMEP (Hellenic Foundation for European & Foreign Policy), and IOBE, covering topics such as the green transition, geopolitical events, and the evolution of Greek views and values.

Fay Makantasi of diaNEOsis delved into critical issues like the Greek economy, climate change, and demographic shifts, highlighting the need for holistic approaches to address these challenges. She shed light on the impact of demographic trends and climate change on Greece’s future.

Maria Gavouneli, of ELIAMEP (Hellenic Foundation for European & Foreign Policy), stressed the significance of Greek shipping in international security and the challenges it faces, including shipping emissions, ESG considerations, and discussions on Indo-Pacific shipping lanes.

Nikos Vettas from IOBE discussed how Greek shipping contributes to the global economy through services export, technology integration, and job creation. He emphasized the importance of specialized knowledge and interconnected sectors.

The event ignited vibrant discussions on environmental sustainability, geopolitics, demographics, technology, and global economic trends.
