Ambassador of Germany in Greece

Born 1955 in Düsseldorf.

Before joining the German Foreign Service in 1988, he had been a Programme Officer for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Geneva and Islamabad. In the Foreign Service he held positions in the German Embassy in Damascus and the Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva as well as at the Foreign Office in Bonn and Berlin. Since 1998 he has worked extensively on EU affairs, holding positions – among others – as Spokesman at the German EU Representation in Brussels, as Coordinator for the EU Presidency in 2007 and as Deputy Director-General for European Affairs at the Foreign Office in Berlin. Mr. Schoof holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Freiburg/Germany
